I knocked on a door in the community and began to talk to a gentleman who very quickly replied, We have our faith. He then went on to tell me what church he attended.
Faith is not religion or any church denomination. Genuine faith is simply taking God at His Word and acting upon it. Faith is a verb an action word.
A woman wanted to show a friend a beautiful piece of silver in her china cabinet. She took the piece out and immediately apologized. She did not realize how tarnished it had become. She said, I cant keep it bright unless I use it.
Faith is a lot like that. It is strong or bright only when it is active.
Our theme verse for 2009 at Heritage Baptist is Acts 11:21. And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.
The Christians at Antioch had an active faith and the hand of the Lord was with them. Prayer was their link with God and one of the evidences of their faith. They discovered that prayer moves the hand of God on behalf of the needs of the ministry and the people.
